Neighbourhood Houses Tasmania (NHT) Conference

On behalf of Kingston Neighbourhood House, Drew and Linda attended The Annual Neighbourhood House Tasmania (NHT) in Devonport last week.

The Annual NHT Conference is a great opportunity to network with other Neighbourhood Houses and get the opportunity to listen to inspiring speakers and learn new approaches to community development that may be relevant to our experience.

The keynote speaker Cormac Russell spoke about Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach which has great relevance.

The Governance training workshops were well attended.

The NHT Annual General Meeting (AGM) was also held during the Conference.

A ‘Supporting Men’s & Boys Workshop’ information session demonstrated methods to attract more men and boys into NH’s.

There was an Expo of Neighbourhood Houses different approaches to community engagement including showcasing homemade jams, community events and programs, healthy eating options and  supporting wellbeing and inclusiveness in the community.

As always, the Annual NHT Conference Dinner was very well attended with the theme being Nautical or Nice, allowing for some of the more eccentric Neighbourhood House volunteers and staff to showcase their sartorial excellence.
