Weekly Update W/E 8/3/2019

Wow, the year has flown so far.  The John Street Community Health Centre is relocating and KNH is seeing the impact on community groups through increased requests for programs, activities, meeting spaces and outreach requests at the House.

The relocation of the Community Health Centre meant community groups using the centre have been asked to find other venues for the meetings and events.

The Kingborough Community Hub has it’s official opening on Friday 29 March 2019 – click here to find out more about the Hub and the layout of the precinct.

Food Security

We are grateful to Peter & Patricia Harvey from Kingborough Community Missions (formerly City Light Missions) for their ongoing support and dedication in assisting families to put food on their tables.

Since the start of 2109 Peter and Patricia have made agreements and received donations of:

  • 1,000 meals made across 2019 by Brookfield’s Margate through the generosity of Julia Ridges, Owner / Manager;
  • Snug Butcher is providing meat packs of hamburgers and sausages;
  • Baxter’s IGA are donated food products on a weekly basis to KNH; and
  • Peter & Patricia are continuing to fundraise to provide food vouchers for families and individuals – in 2018 they provided over $17,000 of food vouchers to KNH and are hoping to fundraise a similar amount in 2019.

Please contact David on 03 6229 4066 or call in to discuss.

Loaves and Fishes Tasmania

Each Monday, Loaves & Fishes Tasmania, formerly Second Bite, provide approx. 250 kgs of donated food for KNH to distribute locally.

We have a great team of volunteers who regularly receive the food deliveries and make up bags for families and individuals collected Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.

KNH would like to acknowledge the commitment and dedication of our volunteer team whom, each week, receive, quality control and pack the food ready for collection.

A special thank you to Anne, Helen, Jackie and Melia
