Weekly Update W/E 13/12/2019

Good morning everyone, we hope you had a relaxing weekend and are getting ready for the holiday season.

We are getting ready for a hot one today, make sure you stay hydrated and out of the direct sunlight.

I apologise for the lack of a weekly update last week I was at a meeting and we had a couple of busy days.

Weekly Update Summary:

  • Loaves & Fishes
  • Christmas Community BBQ
  • KNH in the Kingborough Chronicle
  • EWF Community Lunch
  • A thought & a joke for the week
  • What’s on this week

Loaves & Fishes Tasmania

Unfortunately Loaves & Fishes Hobart branch shut down on Friday due to lack of funding.  KNH will be investigating other options to provide food relief however this news is a shock to many.

KNH is equally disappointed that we are unable to maintain the food relief program at the levels we have until we receive further information.

Neighbourhood Houses are lobbying politicians to seek some assistance to restore the service.  We will keep you posted.

Christmas Community BBQ

Please join us to celebrate a magnificent 2019 with our free Community BBQ being held on Friday 20th December between 12 and 2pm.

We will have the BBQ in operation and will have our new mobile pizza oven producing tasty pizzas.

Please RSVP by phoning 6229 4066 and let us know you are coming.

Kingston Neighbourhood House in the Kingborough Chronicle

We had a lovely meeting with Kingborough Chronicle at the Spring into Health Expo at the Kingston Community Hub on Saturday 16th November.

Thank you to all our volunteers who made themselves available – we received some very positive feedback and created connections with potential partners.

Christmas Eating with Friends Community Lunch

On Friday December 6th we had a lovely gathering for our Christmas Eating with Friends lunch.  We received some very positive feedback about the quality of the meal and many people were appreciative of the company and conversation.

We also took great pleasure in thanking Edna Pennicott from Kingborough Helping Hands for her continual selfless support of KNH and our community.

We presented her with a lovely bouquet of flowers from Kingston Florist.
